NBA: Anambra State Host Thanksgiving Service For Barr. Akpata

Newly elected President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Barrister Olumide Akpata, has reiterated his determination to work harmoniously with the Anambra State national officers, in tandem with intensifying efforts to propagate justice delivery and rule of law.

He made this known during the special Thanksgiving service and reception organised by the Anambra State branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, held in his honour
at the All Saintā€™s Cathedral Church Onitsha.

This event which was the first in it’s kind in the history of the Association, that is; celebrating a leader from another region, was officiated by Bishop on the Niger, Right Reverend Dr Owen Nwokolo.

During the course of the sermon, Bishop Nwokolo, having described the position as an act of grace to serve God and humanity, asked Barrister Akpata to seek the face of God as he discharge his duties.

On his part, Barrister Akpata promised to champion the course of the NBA and thanked the Anambra State chapter for the wonderful act of charity and massive support.

The Onicha Branch Chairman, Barrister Onochie Ononye who described him as a courageous and fearless advocate of human rights asserted that the celebration was to rekindle hope that the two tenures will yield a purposeful and lasting legacy.

Furthermore, Barrister Chugbo Enwezor, a former Legislator, urged him to navigate on national issues of public interest and fight for the promotion of the rule of law. Conversely,Igwe Roland Odegbo of Nteje community, advocated the need for the President elect to represent justice for the down trodden and contribute in facilitating quick dispensation of justice delivery in the society.

Various speakersĀ  including a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Chancellor, Diocese on the Niger, Barrister Nnamdi Ibegbu, Anambra State Coordinator Barrister Akpata campaign team, Barrister Ada Obinna-Edozie, Barrister Obioma Ogelle, among others were optimistic that the new President will improve and transform NBA.
