In line with the need to stop the influx of sub-standard drugs imported into the country from Peoples Republic of China and India, the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control NAFDAC has said that it will embark on a pre-shipment analysis of drugs.
It should be pointed out that NAFDAC already had entered into a partnership with pre-shipment agents in the Peoples Republic of China and India. However, it is determined to take the war against the importation of illicit drugs to their countries of origin.
Both NAFDAC and the Nigerian Customs Service were responsible for seizing an illicit drug, tramadol with an estimated street value of N1.7 million, just as unwholesome foods and other regulated products worth over four billion naira were also seized and destroyed in exercises across the nation.
According to NAFDAC, a staff had also developed software that has been aiding the agency to track and monitor ships on the high sea.
