In celebration of World Tourism Day, MTN Nigeria has launched the ‘See Naija’ platform, a digital initiative aimed at showcasing the country’s vibrant culture, iconic landscapes, and creative talent. The unveiling event took place at the MTN Event Centre in Ikoyi, Lagos.
MTN’s new platform seeks to reshape global perceptions of Nigeria by highlighting its rich heritage and diverse beauty. Through ‘See Naija,’ users can explore Nigeria’s cultural treasures, from stunning natural landscapes to vibrant festivals and traditional lifestyles. The platform is designed as a digital tourism hub, providing access to captivating visuals and stories from historical and scenic sites such as the Oyo Empire, Gashaka Gumti Park in Taraba, Gurara Waterfalls in Niger, Mount Patti in Lokoja, Agbokim Waterfall, and the Osun Sacred Grove, among others.
As part of the launch, MTN also announced the ‘See Naija’ competition, inviting Nigerians to rediscover and celebrate the country’s rich cultural heritage. The competition, which encourages content creators, photographers, and videographers to showcase their unique perspectives of Nigeria, will run under the hashtag #SeeNaijawithMTN. Participants are urged to submit photos or videos that capture the essence of Nigeria through its people, landscapes, traditions, and culture.
Speaking at the event, MTN’s Chief Customers Relations Officer and Acting Chief Marketing Officer, Ugonwa Nwoye, emphasized the importance of embracing and sharing Nigeria’s cultural diversity. “At MTN, we believe in the beauty of diversity and inclusion. Nigeria is one of the most culturally varied countries, home to over 500 languages and 300 ethnic groups. From the Nok civilization to the Benin Empire, our rich heritage forms the foundation of our national identity,” she said.
Nwoye added that the initiative aims to change negative narratives about Nigeria. “We are launching this competition to invite Nigerians to participate in rewriting history. Whether it’s the vibrant markets in Lagos, the beautiful landscapes of Calabar, or the rich customs of Kano, there’s so much about our country to be proud of. Let’s show the world the beauty of Nigeria,” she said.
To participate in the competition, individuals can submit one or two-minute video entries showcasing fascinating locations in their cities on social media platforms, using the hashtag #SeeNaijawithMTN and tagging @mtnng.
The campaign, which launched on World Tourism Day, will run for three months, underscoring MTN Nigeria’s commitment to promoting local talent, empowering citizens, and driving socio-economic growth.
