Dr. David Nzekwu is from Ogbeoza village Onitsha Anambra. Occupying the Chairmanship position at the Anambra State Internal Revenue Service (AIRS) in March 2018, Dr. David Nzekwu has been noted to be one of the organization’s most result-oriented Chairmen pushing the AIRS to greater heights than it ever was (Read more on Anambra State Official Website. Dr Nzekwu holds a B Sc. degree in Marketing of the University of Nigeria; Master of Business Administration of the University of Glamorgan, Wales, United Kingdom and Doctor of Philosophy in Marketing (Ph.D.) of the University of Nigeria.

Also to his accolades are top-notch professional certifications including the Senior Management Programme (SMP) Certificate of the prestigious Lagos Business School and Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMAP) of the School of Finance, Institute of Financial Services, and United Kingdom. He is a Member Chartered Management Institute, (MCMI) London, United Kingdom.
Prior to his move to taxation, David built a successful career in the banking sector which spanned over 21 years working with organizations including; United Bank for Africa (UBA) Nigeria PLC, Eco Bank (Nigeria) PLC, Citizens International Bank (Nigeria) Limited, Barclays Bank PLC, UK and Fidelity Bank Nigeria PLC where he held senior positions. However, managing the tax affairs in Anambra state, Dr. David has brought innovations that have changed and positioned the AIRS for bigger accomplishment than it ever was before his inception as Chief Executive Officer. Under his leadership, the Anambra state launched the state revenue stamp in Nov. 2019 which has given a boost to stamp duty tax in the state and generates revenue of about N20m monthly.
Despite his numerous engagements, Dr. David has many interests which include Music, Traveling, Gastronomy, Reading, Dancing etc. He has also bagged several awards for his meritorious service, some of which include his conferment as a Nation Builder in Abuja with the Nation Builders’ Award, as well as the “Rotary Community Service Award of Excellence” by the Rotary Club Awka G.R.A District 9142 of Rotary International and others.
