On May 8, 2012, legendary music producer Don Jazzy introduced the world to Mavin Records.
From Mavin’s rise to its global impact, the label undeniably shapes Afrobeats, influencing both industry and genre.
Founded in 2012 by Don Jazzy, Mavin Records became a creative hub in African music, inheriting Mo Hits Records’ legacy and elevating Afrobeat to new heights.
For 12 years, Mavin Records has fostered iconic Afrobeats artists, producers, and professionals, leading the industry with stars like Tiwa Savage, Wande Coal, and Korede Bello. Now, it’s home to Rema, Ayra Starr, Ladipoe, and more.
In 2022, Mavin broadened its roster with producers Andre Vibez, Jvxn, Prestige, Sevn, and songwriters Mbryo and Milar, showcasing its commitment to inclusivity and industry expansion. The Mavin Future Five program further demonstrates its commitment to nurturing future music leaders, shaping today and tomorrow’s music scenes.
Label Founder, Don Jazzy is reflective in his comment; “It is a landmark year in so many ways. We are grateful to everyone who has been instrumental in our success in the past 12 years. We are building a legacy together- for Nigeria, for Africa, and the global music community.”
Chief Operating Officer Tega Oghenejobo adds; ‘’We are proud of what we have accomplished so far as a team but we remain ambitious still. We have more to do: breaking new talents, expanding into new territories, and contributing to Africa’s development and its abundant talent.
As Mavin Records celebrates its 12th anniversary, the label continues to push the boundaries of creativity and excellence. Universal Music, the world’s largest music label, recently acquired a majority stake in Mavin Records in a multimillion-dollar deal, cementing its status as Nigeria’s premier record label.
