Once again, it was a smoky morning in Anambra state as suspected arsonists attacked the council headquarters of the Idemili North Local Government Area in Ogidi .
The council headquarters, as well as a Magistrate court close-by were razed to the ground.
According to reports, the suspects entered the council premises on Sunday at about 2am and set the place on fire. They burned down files and properties in the secretariat, including the secretariat building itself.
The attack was confirmed by Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSG Tochukwu Ikenga, describing the attack as unfortunate. He added that no life was lost thankfully but that parts of the building and vehicles parked were destroyed by the fire.
“It is a suspected case of arson,” he said. “The fire has been successfully put off. The level of damage that these hoodlums wanted to cause to the infrastructure was not as serious as they wanted it.”
This is the third attack of this nature in Anambra state since Governor Charles Soludo took over.
