Life Continental Lager Beer, the celebrated brew that symbolises the resilience, ambition, and unstoppable spirit of the Igbo people, is taking its cultural commitment to new heights by backing the highly anticipated 2025 Afiaolu festival in Nnewi.
Joy Egolum reaffirmed this renewed dedication, Corporate Affairs Manager (East) of Nigerian Breweries Plc, during a courtesy visit to His Royal Highness, Igwe Kenneth O. Orizu, the monarch of Nnewi, at his palace in Otolo.
Egolum explained that Life Beer’s involvement in Afiaolu has always been remarkable, but 2025 will mark a deeper engagement. “We are stepping up our involvement, investing in a grander showcase of the rich traditions and cultural heritage of the Igbo people, especially here in Nnewi,” she said.
For years, Life Beer has supported traditional festivals across Eastern Nigeria, championing the preservation and celebration of Igbo identity. Egolum emphasised that the people of Nnewi embody the essence of Life Beer’s values, with resilience, enterprise, and cultural pride passed down through generations. “We are honoured to have the blessing of Nnewi’s oldest monarch as we join hands to celebrate and elevate this vibrant culture,” she added.
The 2025 Afiaolu festival promises to be unforgettable. Life Beer will transform the festival grounds with unique displays, including the construction of the tallest yam pyramid to celebrate agriculture as a central part of Igbo identity. The brand will also partner with celebrity chefs of Eastern descent to empower local cooks, share culinary knowledge, and honour the biggest yams of the day. “There will be exciting prizes, life-changing giveaways, and of course, free servings of Obiagu, our special brew, for everyone to enjoy,” Egolum said with delight.
Prince Obi Orizu, speaking on behalf of HRH Igwe Orizu and the people of Nnewi, expressed heartfelt gratitude for Life Beer’s continued support. “Our long-standing relationship with Nigerian Breweries has been mutually enriching, and we look forward to growing this partnership even further,” he said.
Chima Dim, Senior Brand Manager of Life Beer, reinforced the brand’s bond with the festival. “Afiaolu is more than a harvest celebration. It is a declaration of identity, unity, and pride. This year, Life Beer is not just participating. We are innovating to create a festival experience unlike any before,” he noted.
For the people of Nnewi, Afiaolu remains a sacred season of thanksgiving, community bonding, and cultural pride. It is a joyous occasion where families, masquerades, and friends from far and near gather to celebrate life, heritage, and the gifts of the earth.
Brewed by Nigerian Breweries Plc, Life Continental Lager Beer is recognised as the Beer of Progress. It reflects the Igbo spirit of resilience, ambition, and drive. Every bottle is a tribute to heritage, hard work, and the courage to keep moving forward, values that resonate deeply with the people of the South East.
