The Lagos Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has announced the commencement of PR Fest 2025, a weeklong celebration of communication, creativity, culture, and community engagement, scheduled to take place from Friday, August 8 to Thursday, August 14, 2025.
The announcement was made at the Chapter’s Monthly Meeting and PR Clinic, held recently at the Eko FM Multipurpose Hall, Agidingbi, Ikeja.
With the theme “Urban Farming for Food Security, The Role of Communication”, this year’s festival aims to explore how public relations and strategic communication can support sustainable agriculture, raise awareness of food security, and drive behavioural change within urban communities.
Key activities lined up for PR Fest 2025 include a PR practitioners’ hangout and African night, a media tour of Lagos tourist attractions, a documentary on urban farming in the state, mentorship sessions for students and emerging PR professionals, and the launch of PR and leadership clubs in higher institutions across Lagos. The week will also feature a PR sports and fitness event with sectoral competitions, the Annual General Meeting, a themed communication lecture, and elections.
Speaking at the unveiling, Dr. Samuel Ayetutu, fnipr, Chairman of the Lagos Chapter, said, “This year’s PR Fest takes a bold step to connect communication with one of the most pressing issues in our society, food security. Through this platform, we will not only celebrate the practice of public relations but also advocate for sustainable solutions using the power of storytelling and community engagement.”
Chairman of the Planning Committee, Olabamiji Adeleye, called on stakeholders, corporate sponsors, and partners to support and participate in this important initiative aimed at shaping narratives, encouraging collaboration, and building a healthier, more food-secure Lagos.
