Freedom Park, Lagos, is set to come alive once again as the Lagos Fringe Festival returns for its 8th edition from November 18 to 23, 2025.

This year’s theme, “Hybrid Identities: Merging Boundaries,” invites artists, filmmakers, and creative entrepreneurs to explore how culture, technology, and innovation continue to reshape art and self-expression in a fast-evolving world.

The 2025 edition goes beyond performance and spectacle. It aims to challenge creatives to rethink how art interacts with technology and how identity evolves in a digital age. From theatre to fashion, visual arts to film, the festival promises a fusion of ideas that celebrates Africa’s dynamic creativity.

Among the key highlights is the Lagos Fringe Ideas-Xchange, a creative hub for collaboration, learning, and networking. It will feature panel discussions, artist talks, and live showcases centred on topics like the evolving creative economy, artificial intelligence in storytelling, sustainable production, and cross-border collaboration shaping Africa’s cultural story.

The Creative Tech Workshop Series also takes the spotlight, with sessions designed to bridge art and technology. The “AI and Film Workshop” by Olamide Jolaoso will explore how artificial intelligence is transforming storytelling, post-production, and film distribution. “Digital Craft: A 3D Printing Masterclass for Prop, Set, and Costume Design” by Film Anatomie will introduce participants to the use of 3D printing in creating detailed props and wearable art. AIStudio.Ng will host the “AI and Fashion Workshop,” merging futuristic design with technology to showcase how machine learning is influencing fashion innovation.

The Lagos Fringe Visual Arts Exhibition will showcase works from emerging and established artists under the theme “Hybrid Identities.” Through paintings, mixed media, photography, sculpture, and digital installations, the exhibition will explore how artists are interpreting culture and technology in today’s connected world.

The Fringe Film Showcase returns with an exciting lineup of short films, documentaries, and experimental pieces from across Africa and the diaspora. These films will tackle themes of identity, innovation, and resilience, offering new perspectives while connecting filmmakers with audiences and industry peers.

A major highlight of this year’s edition is the inaugural Lagos Fringe Film Awards, hosted by Pawstudios Africa. The awards will celebrate excellence and originality in African and diaspora filmmaking, honouring categories such as Best Short Film, Best Film with Female Representation, Best African Story, Best Experimental Film, and the Audience Choice Award.

Beyond film and art, the festival promises a rich cultural experience. Theatre performances will combine storytelling with social commentary, while dance battles will celebrate Lagos’ vibrant energy. Music and Fringe Nights will feature live concerts, DJ sets, spoken word, and the much-loved Y2K party. The Fringe Market will bring together artisans, designers, and entrepreneurs showcasing sustainable fashion, handmade crafts, skincare products, and collectibles.

As Lagos prepares for this creative convergence, the Lagos Fringe Festival 2025 stands as a reminder of how the city continues to inspire, innovate, and redefine the boundaries of African creativity.
