Kaduna State Police Personnel Rescues Kidnap Victims

The Katsina state police command, in the early hours of Friday, rescued two men from terrorists at Wapa village, in the Kurfi Local Government Area of the state, after a fierce gun fight.


The rescued men were Alhaji Aminu Wapa and Wade Sale respectively.

The police said that terrorists, numbering up to 24, invaded the village few minutes after midnight and abducted the men.


The spokesman of the command, SP Gambo Isah, confirmed the development and revealed that the police officers received a distress call during the invasion, after which they went to the village to engage the terrorists.


He added that the police team repelled the terrorists and rescued the two men, adding that many terrorists were believed to have been killed in the encounter.


He said: ā€œToday (Friday) 19 August 2022, at about 0100hrs, a distress call was received that terrorists, numbering twenty-four (24), on motorbikes, shooting sporadically with AK47 rifles, attacked Wapa village, Kurfi Local Government Area of Katsina State and kidnapped the duo of Alhaji Aminu Wapa and Wada Sale of Wapa village, Kurfi council.

On receipt of the information, the Command deployed its tactical teams to the area and engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel. The team successfully repelled the terrorists and rescued the kidnapped victims.


Many terrorists were feared to have been killed and/or fatally wounded during the encounter. A team of policemen are still combing the area with a view to arresting the wounded terrorists and/or recover their dead bodies.ā€


The commissioner of police, Idrisu Dauda, appreciated the efforts of the personnel in ensuring that they tackle terrorist operations.


He also urged residents in the state to always cooperate with the police in the current campaigns against terrorists in the country.
