As the Anambra State Association of Town Unions,(ASATU) Youth Smart job enlightenment campaign reaches its denouement, Anambra youths have been admonished to make the best use of the opportunity as a means of alleviating unemployment.
The enlightenment campaign saw the attendance of youths from across 9 communities; Awka, Amawbia, Mbaukwu, Nise, Nibo, Ezinato, Okpuno, Isiagu, and Umuawulu.
Delivering the opening remarks, Council Chairman of Awka South, Hon. Leo Nwuba lauded the Governor Willie Obiano led administration for the project and advised the youths to grab the opportunity by making positive use of their phones.
According to His Youthfulness Hon. Patrick Agha Mba, the project is one of the numerous ways by which Governor Willie Obiano seeks to tackle unemployment and to improve upon the standard of living of Anambra youths. He also noted that that the structure of the association is such that it allows for a link between the grassroots and the government.
Miss Ada Vivian Ezeanya who represented Mr Chidi Kalu, the DG Project Smart job reiterated the idea that the project has been funded by the State government. She took the participants through basic training and encouraged them to be committed while learning.
On her part, Hon. Prof. Theresa Nkechi Obiekezie, the Hon. Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy emphasized that the project is geared towards making the pockets of Anambra youths fat; as it has been the slogan of the Governor that every Onye Anambra will benefit from his administration.
She also brought to the notice of the participants another programme which will start soon, called “One Youth, One Skill” which is in line with Governor Willie Obiano’s ideal leadership for young people. Rounding off, she admonished the youths to give the training their best, assuring them that the Governor will empower all participants who indulged in the training.
Hon. Nnamdi Ikeli, the ASATU Youth Governor, Anambra North and his Southern and Central counterparts Comrades, Nkwado Chukwuka Onwughalu, and Rowland Akabueze expressed their gratitude to the State government for the Smart job project and other youth empowerment programmes.
The National Secretary of ASATU Youth Comr. Emeka Okoye-Ozo while addressing newsmen, charged the Anambra youths to get involved through their respective community Youth Leaders.
