The Overseas Friends of Bharatiya Janata Party (OFBJP) has pledged to deepen cultural ties and foster growth in Nigeria, following Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s brief visit to the country.

During the visit, OFBJP executives met with Modi to discuss the group’s ongoing efforts to promote awareness of initiatives spearheaded by Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), both in India and globally. Key topics included Modi’s economic reforms, advancements in digital innovation, and sustainability measures.

OFBJP, a global support organization of the BJP, operates in several countries, emphasizing its role beyond political advocacy. The group is committed to portraying BJP as a transparent, forward-thinking political entity and maintains the party’s global reputation as the largest political organization by membership among democracies.

Dr. Anil Grover, OFBJP’s spokesperson in Lagos, highlighted the organization’s contributions in Nigeria, which include charity drives, cultural events, and building networks to strengthen India-Nigeria relations.

“Support groups like OFBJP foster a positive and transparent image of BJP. We are dedicated to spreading awareness about the visionary leadership of Modi and BJP’s efforts to bring change in India and the world,” said Grover.

“With the support of the Indian diaspora, we continue to serve as a bridge for fostering cross-cultural and economic ties between the nations.”

Sudhir Rathore, OFBJP’s spokesperson in Abuja, described Modi’s visit as a significant moment in India-Nigeria relations. Rathore noted that the conferment of Nigeria’s highest national honor, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), on Modi, underscores Nigeria’s commitment to a strong bilateral partnership.

The visit also witnessed the signing of pivotal Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between the two nations, covering bilateral trade, defence, food security, healthcare, and investment.

“We are also involved in cultural promotion, advocating Indian traditions, including the promotion of Hindi and Yoga, fostering cultural exchange and goodwill,” Rathore added.
