Imo Council Chairman Assassinated by Unidentified Attackers in Southeast Nigeria Despite Payment of N6 Million Ransom

In a shocking turn of events, unknown gunmen operating in Southeast Nigeria have assassinated the chairman of Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State, Chris Ohizu. Despite collecting a ransom of N6 million from Ohizu’s family, the gunmen carried out their threat to kill the local government official.

According to eyewitnesses, Ohizu was abducted last Friday at his home in Imoko community in Arondizuogu town. The kidnappers, who had previously released a video of the chairman kneeling in a bushy area, were said to have shot Ohizu in the leg before bundling him into a waiting car and setting his house ablaze.

In an earlier video obtained by SaharaReporters, one of the unknown gunmen was heard threatening to kill Ohizu and even going as far as to vow to kill the governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma. The incident has sent shockwaves throughout the community and authorities have vowed to bring those responsible to justice.
