House Of Reps Member Introduces Cross Dressing Bill

In the United States, we note the role of Hilary Clinton and how close she came to becoming  the president in the elections that brought in Donald Trump , I’m optimistic that the Nigerian political space will give a woman a chance as well at some point as we continue to evolve , so we can experience governance from another sex, which will help in empowering the mindset of the girl child in a very strong way.

Apart from Linda Ikeji who is always in the news for empowering the girl child, another person who serves as a strong role model to Nigerians and Africans is Tara Durotoye. As a beauty entrepreneur, she has been able to teach the Nigerian business world about chasing your dreams and making them a reality. Like Linda Ikeji too, she has over the years empowered so many ladies and through her business structure, made it a franchise to also empower other beauty products professionals.

While we are about positively empowering the girl child, it has been noted that in the past few years , there are men that have decided to start dressing like women, causing a negative influence on the Nigerian youths as many are looking towards that direction. However , as a reminder that Nigeria has strong values and culture , and is against any form of immortality, the House of Representatives is considering a bill to ban cross dressing and also jail the offenders for about six months.

A Member of the House of Representatives, Umar Muda has introduced a bill to prohibit cross-dressing in Nigeria. This was done on the 5th of April, 2022 where the bill was read on the floor of the House. If it happens that this bill is successful, the cross dressers will be jailed for six months, however an exception is made for people who are using the code of dressing for entertainment.
