Police Foils Attempt to Raze INEC Office in Anambra

Following attacks on security facilities, the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma has sworn to crush anybody that attempts to cause mayhem or attack Imo people again.

The statement was issued by the chief press secretary, Oguwike Nwachuku who said, the ā€œGovernment cannot surrender to blackmailers, hoodlums, and perpetrators of violence. Several attacks had been made on the state destroying properties worth millions of naira, including the police headquarters and the correctional centre in Owerri, the state capital.

Nwachuku stated that over 40 people who caused mayhem in the state have been arrested and charged to court. However, the governor stated it was worthy of note that the perpetrators of the menace were not persons of the Igbo extraction. ā€œOver 400 of those who carried out the threats on the state in the past have been arrested,ā€ he said.

He added that, ā€œThe good thing is that over 70 percent of them are not Igbo. We will crush anybody that attempts to cause mayhem or attack Imo people again.

Governor Uzodinma warned against future plans to visit the state with any form of violence and such persons should have a rethink as ā€œgovernment is more than ever ready and prepared to keep Imo safe and securedā€. He assured the people that such events as happened in the past will not repeat itself. Uzodinma called
