Hilda Baci has once again carved her name in history. The Nigerian chef, who first captured the world’s attention in May 2023 when she broke the record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual cooking for 93 hours and 11 minutes, has returned with another groundbreaking milestone.
This time, Guinness World Records has officially recognized her for cooking the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice. The remarkable effort produced 8,780 kilograms of the beloved West African dish, enough to fill around 20,000 plates.
The feat was carried out in Victoria Island, Lagos, in partnership with Gino Nigeria. The attempt took nine hours of continuous cooking and required about 1,200 kilograms of gas to pull off. Guinness World Records celebrated her determination on Instagram, praising the teamwork and passion that made the achievement possible.
Baci described the experience as an act of joy, love, and community, and her words struck a chord with many across the continent. Once again, she has reignited the record-breaking fever she previously inspired, turning the spotlight on Nigerian creativity and resilience.
Her triumph has sparked widespread pride online, with many Nigerians hailing her as a cultural ambassador whose achievements are elevating African cuisine to the global stage. From her marathon cooking record to this massive serving of jollof, Hilda Baci continues to prove that food can be more than a meal. It can be a unifying force, a story of heritage, and an inspiration to generations.
