The Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, ASHIA will provide solar powered lights and ultrasound machines for the Enugwu-Ukwu General hospital as part of efforts to improve the quality of services rendered to beneficiaries of ASHIA at the hospital.
This was revealed by Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi, the Executive Secretary of ASHIA during a meeting with hospital staff members at the Enugwu General hospital.
The Executive Secretary who also doubles as Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, explained that the solar powered lights will power the hospital in case of power outage especially at nights. While the ultrasound scan machine will aid in the management of pregnant women.
Mrs. C.N Uzoigwe, the Head of Administrative Department of the hospital expressed her appreciation towards the proposed intervention. In the same vein, Matron-In-Charge of Infant Welfare Unit, Mrs Loretta Okonkwo praised ASHIA for the wonderful job they are doing. She explained how she benefited from ASHIA when she took I’ll. She said she was examined and treated almost free of charge, paying only ten per cent of the bill for drugs.
In terms of handling of equipments, Mrs. Rosemary Okafor, Deputy Director, Nursing while expressing gratitude for the proposed intervention assured that they would handle the equipment with utmost care.
Dr Uche Okeke, a Medical Doctor at the hospital, on his part called for a call room for doctors which has been a challenge. With this call room, doctors who usually do night duties and have no place to stay can utilise the call room.
Dr. Onyemaechi promised that they will utilise their capitation and fee-for-service to improve on existing structure for the good of Anambra residents. At the same time, work with the management of the hospital.
He also expressed gratitude for the establishment of the ASHIA by the Anambra state government; as this has been instrumental to the funding of healthcare delivery in the state.
