Since it was established in 2006, the Headies awards have become a staple in the Nigerian entertainment space.
The award show, created by the famous Hip Hop World Magazine celebrates outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry. According to executive producer and founder, Ayo Animashaun, the 2022 awards would be held outside Nigeria for the first time.
The award is set for the 4th of September 2022 at the Cobbs Energy Performing Center, Atlanta Georgia.
The nominees for the awards were announced today with Wizkid leading the pack with 10 nominations. Some of the other nominees include Ayra Starr, Tems, Davido, Adekunle Gold, Olamide, Fireboy, Brymo, Lojay, BNXN, Blaqbonez.
This year, Grammy Award winning artiste, Angélique Kidjo will be the recipient of the Headies Hall of Fame recognition award. Making her the first female winner of this award.
The rest of the Headies Hall of Fame includes King Sunny Ade, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey, Chris Ubosi, Tuface Idibia, Sir. Victor Uwaifo, DJ Jimmy Jatt, Keke Ogungbe, Dayo D1’ Adeneye, Ben Bruce, Obi Asika, Olisa Adibua, Shina Peters, Femi Kuti, Kwam 1 and more.
