As Governor Soludo Launches his Agro-economic Transformation Agenda.
The Anambra State Government has flagged-off a symbolic Agricultural agenda themed “Regenerative Agriculture”. In his opening remarks the Anambra State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Foster Ihejiofor, noted that regenerative agriculture marks the beginning of the Soludo Agro-economic transformation agenda.
“The global agric value chain is the largest largest employer of Labour, second only to the services sector. In Nigeria, the agricultural sector is responsible for 36% of the labour force and accounts for 24% of the GDP. More than 80% of Nigerian farmers are smallholders (SHFs) and are responsible for 90% of the Nation’s agricultural produce” Ihejiofor stated.
The Soludo administration recognises the preeminence of agriculture in the building of enduring societies. Thus, the envisioned Liveable, Prosperous smart megacity is inconceivable without a functional agricultural system.
This administration has had to interrogate the agricultural methods and processes in order to guarantee sustainability, productivity, safety and eco-friendliness.
We wish all our farmers a successful farming season full of bountiful harvest.
