Nigerian international gospel singer, Sammie Okposo has passed on at the age of 51.

According to reports, the renowned singer slumped before he was pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, Okposo’s manager, Hillary Vincent confirmed that the singer died in the early hours of Friday.

The Welu Welu crooner was slated to minister, alongside other gospel singers, Eben, Chuks Praise, Joy Favour, and Victor Edit at the Outpouring Assembly International in Calabar between Friday, November 25 to 27.

Prior to his death, Okposo had offered a public apology to his wife, Ozioma, via his Instagram page on 24 January 2022 for his infidelity. The apology came a day after a lady, known only as African Doll, accused him of impregnating her and abandoning her. The gospel musician told his fans that he would be taking a step back from his ministry to focus on restoration and seek forgiveness. He initially deleted his social media handles, but restored them a few days later.

In 2020, the singer took to his social media page to recount how he survived a ghastly moto accident at the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.Ā

ā€œI was not going to post this because I had already thanked, praised, and worshiped God for delivering me from death Saturday, May 16, 2020, but this is something to brag about and testify of the miracle-working power of God I have a very big God who is always by my side to deliver me,ā€ he wrote on Instagram as of then.

ā€œThe image you see is my car propeller shaft that pulled off while I was in motion. Just before it happened, I was doing 100/120 kph on the 3rd Mainland bridge connecting to CMS and then to Surulere my destination,ā€ he added.Ā

ā€œAs I was driving, suddenly I heard a voice ā€˜slow downā€™ so immediately I reduced my speed to 60kph, 10 seconds after reducing my speed from 120mph to 60mph the propeller shaft of my car pulled off with a loud noise,ā€ he wrote.Ā
