The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Osun Command has urged motorists to avoid reckless driving during and after the Osun-Osogbo festival on August 9. Mrs. Medinat Akanbi, the Sector Head of Operations, conveyed this message during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Osogbo.
Akanbi highlighted that the command is collaborating with other security agencies to ensure the festival’s smooth execution. To maintain order and safety, several officers have been deployed throughout the state to monitor and enforce traffic regulations.
“We have stationed our towing vans, ambulances, and patrol vehicles at strategic locations to prevent accidents and deter dangerous driving,” Akanbi stated.
She emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic rules and warned that the command would take strict action against anyone found driving recklessly, as it endangers the lives of other road users. Additionally, Akanbi assured that efforts would be made to prevent traffic congestion and accidents resulting from the increased vehicular movement during and after the festival.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) also reported that the Osun Police Command had previously assured the public that necessary security measures were being implemented to ensure a smooth and safe Osun-Osogbo Festival. The police promised the safety of participants and their property during the event.
