FRSC Goes Hard on Traffic Offenders with Operation RAID

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has commenced its ‘Operation RAID’ in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) which it says is targeted at bringing to book all offenders committing critical traffic offences such as overloading, driving against traffic, beating of traffic light, among others.

According to the sector commander of the FRSC, Mr. Samuel Ochi, who spoke in Abuja with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday, said the goal of the operation is targeted at defiant riders and motor bikes in the outskirts of Abuja. He noted that the raid which will run through the month of May will enforce on recklessness too.

He said, “It will be enforcement on all forms for recklessness including those that are not properly licensed and those without number plates.” He further noted that “many of the motorcycles and tricycle riders did not register their keke Napep and bikes properly and thereby get themselves indulge in activities that could threaten the security of FCT.”

However, he revealed that the is collaborating with other sister agencies of the government to ensure total enforcement and enlightenment of motorists. Meanwhile the corps will to adopt new strategies in order to have a safe motoring environment for everyone.
