The Dr. Chioma Awuzie Foundation (DCAF), a leading non-governmental organization focused on promoting education and empowering youth and women, is preparing to award scholarships to 16 underprivileged students in recognition of their academic achievements. This event, scheduled for Friday, July 12, 2024, will take place in the Main Auditorium of the Federal Polytechnic Oko. The ceremony will include inspiring speeches from prominent educational leaders, philanthropists, and community advocates.
In a statement released by DCAF’s Board of Trustees Chairman, Dr. Chioma Awuzie, and Programme Officer, Pharmacist Miracle Awuzie-Okafor, it was revealed that the scholarship recipients have been selected from six public tertiary institutions in Anambra State. This initiative is aimed at alleviating the financial burden on families and providing these students with the opportunity to excel academically and make significant contributions to society.
The statement reads in part, “This year’s event which heralds the 51st birthday of the Founder and Chairman of Board of Trustees, Dr Chioma I. Awuzie, will see scholarship awards given to 16 deserving students, selected from the six major public tertiary education institutions in Anambra State, who have demonstrated academic excellence and commitment to their studies despite economic hardships.
“The DCAF Annual Scholarship Award Programme is a cornerstone initiative aimed at empowering underprivileged students by providing financial assistance to help them pursue their academic dreams.
“In alignment with Dr. Awuzie’s vision of fostering education, youth empowerment, and community development, this programme continues to be a beacon of hope for many students facing financial challenges.
“The founder of DCAF, had already expressed her enthusiasm for this year’s programme, stating that, “Education is the foundation upon which we build our future.
“Through these scholarships, we aim to lift the burden on families and give students the opportunity to excel academically and contribute meaningfully to society.
“It is our hope that these young minds will go on to make a significant impact in their communities and beyond.”
