Former Ondo State Governor Condemns Owo Terror Attack

Olusegun Mimiko, the former Governor of Ondo State has described the unfortunate terrorist attack that took place at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State as senseless.

On Sunday, gunmen stormed the catholic church during mass and opened fire on innocent worshippers. Multiple casualties were reported at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo and other hospitals around.

The former Governor took to his Facebook page to offer commiserations to the families of the victims as well as condemn the act.

The statement read,

ā€œThe senseless attack on unarmed worshippers at St Francis Catholic Church, Owo, in Ondo state, on Sunday morning, is a condemnable act and it assaults our humanity and bludgeons our sensibilities.ā€

ā€œI commiserate with the families of the victims. I have placed a call through to the Olowo to commiserate with him and the good people of Owo kingdom on the huge loss recorded from the attack.ā€

He also urged the current state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu to mobilize healthcare assets to Owo and reach out to neighboring states for help. Furthermore, he called on the state government to investigate and apprehend the perpetrators of the attack.

ā€œI urge the state government to mobilize all available healthcare assets to Owo and, if need be, call for assistance from neighboring states so as to save as many as possible of those who were wounded in the attack.

ā€œWe stand with the government and people of Ondo State. We stand in solidarity with the Olowo, the people of Owo and the Catholic Diocese of Ondo. We condemn this satanic attack in its entirety.

ā€œAs a matter of urgency, I urge government to apprehend and bring the perpetrators of this dastardly act to immediate justice.

ā€œWe also call on our people to be alert and, vigilant so as to nip any illegality and repeat attack in the bud. We surely shall outlive and outlast the enemies of this land.ā€
