Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has given his endorsement to the second edition of the Cultural Oneness Festival, an initiative powered by Taste of Afrika. The notable endorsement ceremony took place in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State in southwest Nigeria, which is also the residence of Chief Olusegun Okikiola Ogunboye Aremu Obasanjo.
The endorsement from Obasanjo is a significant milestone as the people of Ghana, Africa, and the African diaspora prepare to celebrate unity in diversity at the Cultural Oneness Festival.
The Taste of Afrika delegation, led by the Nandom Naa and President of the Nandom Traditional Council, Professor Edmund Delle, engaged in fruitful discussions with Obasanjo. Tengol K. Kplemani, CEO of Taste of Afrika, spearheaded these collaborative talks, focusing on the Cultural Oneness Festival initiative.
Obasanjo emphasized his recognition of the festival’s potential, reflecting on his personal and political journey across Nigeria, Africa, and beyond. He highlighted the immense benefits the festival could bring to Ghana, Africa, and the global community, provided it receives the necessary support and recognition.
“I am delighted to see my brothers and sisters from Ghana embark on this significant project to promote culture, arts, and tourism in Northern Ghana and beyond through the Cultural Oneness Festival. Today, I wholeheartedly endorse this initiative and look forward to attending the event in Northern Ghana,” stated Obasanjo.
Obasanjo’s endorsement underscores the Cultural Oneness Festival’s crucial role in fostering cultural understanding and strengthening social cohesion. The festival’s organizers expressed their gratitude, acknowledging the importance of Obasanjo’s support in enhancing the festival’s visibility and impact.
“Taste of Afrika is deeply honored by Mr. Obasanjo’s endorsement,” said CEO Tengol K. Kplemani. “His support underscores our mission to promote unity and diversity through cultural exchange and to boost economic empowerment across the continent.”
Scheduled to take place from November 13 to 16, 2024, in Northern Ghana, the Cultural Oneness Festival promises a vibrant celebration of cultural heritage and communal harmony. This year’s event will feature a rich lineup of activities for participants of all ages and backgrounds, including cultural tours, musical performances, fashion and art exhibitions, interactive workshops, and various engaging experiences that celebrate the diversity of the Ghanaian community.
