The former Governor of Kano state, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso has left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Kwankwaso, the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement is joining the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) ahead of the 2023 elections. In a letter dated 29th March 2022, he explained that he was leaving the party due to some serious and irreconcilable differences.

The letter read,

“It is with deep sense of humility that I write to notify you that, as a result of some serious and irreconcilable differences, I have reached the conclusion that my continued stay in the PDP is untenable.

ā€œTherefore, effective from today, Tuesday the 29th of March, 2022 I have withdrawn my membership from the Peoples Democratic Party.ā€

Earlier this month, it was reported that Kwankwaso was planning to make the switch from the PDP to NNPP. Back in 2018, the former Governor contested for the PDP Presidential ticket, losing out to Atiku Abubakar.
