Dr. Emma Ude-Akpeh, the President of the Old Boys Association of Father Joseph Memorial High School, Aguleri, FAJAOBA, has commended Governor Willie Obiano, for his timely intervention in trying to remedy the disaster that befell the school following the heavy rains and storm on the evening of Saturday, April 10, 2021 which wreaked great havoc on several of the School’s buildings and other properties.

He stated that for Governor Obiano to visit the School last Tuesday was not only very prompt but also highly commendable noting that it is the hallmark of a great leader to not only listen but also to act promptly.

Dr Ude-Akpeh noted that the old boys are not surprised, as they know the Governor as a man of action, always listening, and taking actions to address the yearnings of Ndi Anambra. He appreciated the Governor for giving directives immediately on what to be done to put the school back to shape.

The FAJAOBA President also commended the NEMA and SEMA for their prompt actions when they visited to assess the damage to the School earlier on Monday, noting that he would be looking forward to excellent cooperation from both bodies with the Anambra State Government in bringing normalcy to the lives of the over two thousand students of the school.

Governor Obiano was received during the visit by the Auxiliary Bishop of Onitsha Archdiocese, Most Reverend Denis Isizoh, the Principal of the School, Reverend Father Anthony Izuchukwu Okoye, as well as Dr Emma Ude-Akpeh, FAJAOBA President and some old boys of the school.

Governor Obiano was accompanied by the Commissioner for Housing, Architect Mike Okonkwo and his Works counterpart, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor.

It would be recalled that several buildings in the sixty-year old school were destroyed by rain storm last Saturday after which the school authorities appealed for help in rehabilitating the displaced students as well as in rebuilding the destroyed buildings.

The Father Joseph Memorial High School is also the major holding center for displaced persons in the State, particularly, during flood disasters.
