Election Predictions: Eric Adams Elected as New York City’s Second Black Mayor

A major projection has been made by CNN that former New York Police Department Captain, Eric Adams will be elected as the second Black mayor of New York City defeating Curtis Sliwa. Eric Adams will the the second black mayor in New York City’s history after the late David Dinkins.

Eric Adams is  a Brooklyn native who currently serves as its borough president. He won a chaotic Democratic primary during summer on a promise to have the NYPD reformed amid worries over a rise in violent crime. Eric Adams, a former state lawmaker rose to the top of the Democratic mayoral field with a clear pitch to voters over the rising concerns of the NYPD and the safety of people.

During his campaign, he emphasized a lot on “public safety” stating that public safety is a prerequisite to prosperity and appealing to different sectors of the electorate. Eric Adams vote was 74.6% while Curtis Silwa was 20.2%  and votes still counting at the point of writing.
