Enugwu-Agidi Youths in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra, have set out to use every possible measure to ensure enduring peace and harmony for advancement in the town.

This announcement took place when the young people of the Enugwu-Agidi people group held their yearly get-together, intended for advancing and promoting unity in the community.

The occasion coordinated by the local area youth association was held at the Palace Hall of their customary ruler, Igwe Michael Okekeuche.

The President of the community, Mr Daniel Egbuonu, in his address, noted that one of the reasons for the event was to appreciate those who have contributed greatly to the. Development of the town.

Mr Egbuonu said that since he assumed office in April 2020, he has achieved a lot irrespective of the pandemic and is proud that he was able to attract some projects for the community.

He further listed some of the achievements to include Enugu Agidi Computer Training Centre’s establishment for youths to acquire technological knowledge before gaining admission into tertiary institutions.

“After the establishment of the computer training centre, we considered the need for security measures. With the help of Lady Helen Ekesi and family, we resolved the security issues.

“We are embarking on creating an e-Agidi collection, where we will identify some Enugu Agidi youths, who will want to learn some trade of their choice. If it is shoe production, we will pay for two rooms in Aba, Abia State, to annually train two youths.

“This shoe production training will last for six months. After the first batches, the second batch will proceed, and it goes on like that.

“At the end, those people will be able to employ and train others. It will be made public online. The youths organization will then actualise these and more empowerment programmes,’’ Egbuonu explained.

Senator Gab Okoye who was present at the event gave a speech titled: “Youth integration: A Sine Qua Non for Sustainable Peace and Development in Enugu Agidi,’’ where he recognized the youth to be vital organs of the society.

He urged them to engage in meaningful activities to better their lives and project the community, instead of promoting disunity and getting involved in activities that were inimical to the community.

Sen. Okoye enjoined the community leaders to fashion out measures to empower youths in various cooperatives, microfinance and startups for the good of the community.
