A peaceful rally organised by the Anambra Youths Association was staged at various parts of Onitsha, Anambra state with the purpose to to sensitize the populace on the need to participate actively in the subsequent presidential and national assembly elections in the country. The youth leader Nnaemeka Onyemaechi who addressed the participants stated that sitting at home should be an option for the masses as it would be a disastrous mistake for the Ndigbo’s.

This rally was a backlash after information went around that the Igbo’s were not supposed to vote for the election, however the leader of the Biafra Independence Movement and founder of Movement for Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra , Chief Ralph Uwazurike has distanced himself and members from any sit-at-home boycott. In a press statement by his personal assistant he has directed all his members to go out and vote for any candidate of their choice during the upcoming election.
