Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi, the Executive Secretary of Anambra State Health Insurance Agency has advised Ndi-Anambra to key into the Health Insurance Scheme of the state which grants preventive and curative access to solve healthcare needs.

He made this call during the ‘Meet the Media’ event which engages Commissioners and Heads of Agencies in the state on exclusive and constructive insight into the Obiano administration.

‘Meet The Media’, an exclusive insight into the Obiano administration is the brainchild of the Governor Obiano’s Media Team, anchored by Chief Press Secretary, Mr. James Eze and his Deputy, Mr. Emeka Ozumba, among other media executives.

Dr. Onyemaechi who revealed that Governor Obiano has succeeded in giving Ndi Anambra a Health Insurance Scheme that will thrive beyond his administration, noted that out of the more than 90,000 enrollees, 30,000 are sponsored from the informal sector under its adoption model.
According to the Executive Secretary, the scheme which is backed by law has surpassed the number it targeted for its sustainability. As a matter of fact, the industrialization of the scheme by the Governor is a legacy that would benefit future generations.

Furthermore, Dr. Onyemaechi explicated that it was as a result of the failure of the National Health Insurance Scheme that it didn’t exist in Anambra prior to the Obiano-led administration. At the momemt, ASHIA has accredited over two hundred hospitals in the State with specific interest in hard -to -reach areas.

He added that ASHIA does not owe capitation fees of such hospitals which include zero point five subsidy by the governor. In fact, currently, the premium is 12,000 naira per annum and ASHIA is in over 100 communities in Anambra; which is why maternal and mortality rate has been on a steady decline, since the scheme is accessible by every resident in the state.
