Anambra State Ministry of Diaspora Affairs, Indigenous Artworks, Culture, and Tourism has nominated 10 hotels for National Productivity Centre (NPC) Awards.

The event has been scheduled for Nov. 26 to Nov. 27 in Abuja.

The 10 selected hotels from Anambra for the award are Golden Nuggets Hotel and Suites, Parktonian, Nelly’s New Town, Mayroses Hotel, and Lifestyle.

Others are Soprom Hotel and Suites, Dolly Hills, Wintess Gardens, Aria Sky Suites, and De Santos.

In a speech during a meeting with the 10 selected hoteliers in his office at Awka, the Commissioner Diaspora Affairs, Indigenous Artworks, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Christian Madubuko congratulated them for standing out among other hotels in the state.

“You are selected for the award because your hotels have met the standards required by NPC.

“Maintain those standards and be shining stars to others, especially at this yuletide season when a number of activities hold.

“Secure your hotels and as well assist the state to have a secure environment. Ensure your hotels have CCTV cameras as directed by the state government.

“We want every hotel in the state to be on our Ministry’s website in order for the government to monitor and regulate your activities,’’ he said.

The commissioner, then, hinted that the Ministry would soon commence clampdown on unregistered hotels in the state from next week.

Acting Director, hotel, and hospitality, Mrs. Stella Anah noted that a thorough investigation was conducted before the selections were made.

“This is the beginning; the Ministry will also organize an awards ceremony of this kind in December.

“We want you to maintain your good standards and as well soar higher.’’

Mr. Darlington Ngwu, General Manager, Lifestyle Hotels, thanked the state government for nominating their facilities for the award.

“Selecting our hotels for the award shows we are doing well and are encouraged to continue to do better while improving the image of Anambra and Nigeria in general.

“We always ensure on a daily basis that our customers are comfortable and offered quality services at any given point in time.

“Nevertheless, we still need the government’s support to run our hotels efficiently because of the effect of COVID-19 lockdown and EndSars issues impact on our business,’’ he said.

Mr. Ngwu urged other hoteliers to work hard, update their services from time to time, and ensure their customers would be comfortable at all times.

Presentation of attendance letters to the outstanding hoteliers for the awards ceremony was performed by the commissioner at the meeting.
