Diana Armstrong

Diana Armstrong is the Guinness World Record Holder for the longest fingernails on a pair of hands (female) and the longest fingernails on a pair of hands ever (female).

Measuring 1,306.58 cm (42 ft 10.4 in) as of 13 March 2022, the combined length of Diana’s fingernails is longer than a standard yellow school bus.

She has been growing her fingernails for over 25 years.

The last time Diana had her fingernails cut was in 1997 which according to her, resulted in the death of her favourite daughter, Latisha who used to help her care for her nails and polished them.

16-year-old Latisha had passed away in her sleep from an asthma attack. Diana however promised not to ever cut her nails again after the incident.

A promise she has been able to live up to and which later earned her the Guinness World Record Holder of the woman with the longest fingernails ever.

The previous person to hold the record is an American woman, Ayanna Williams.
She decided to trim the fingernails in 2021. As it stands, Diana Armstrongā€™s fingernails are 573.03 cm (18 ft 8 in) longer than Ayannaā€™s.

For Diana, Itā€™s a challenge to paint her fingernails by herself. She often engages her grandchildren who find pleasure in adorning her nails with colourful paints.

She only has her nails done once every four to five years. The process includes 15 to 20 bottles of nail polish and a woodworking tool for filing.

Due to the length of her fingernails, Diana has given up on driving and avoided clothes that have zippers.
