Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has vowed to complete all projects before the expiration of his tenure as governor of the state.
Wike made this known during the presentation of a letter of nomination as the DAAR Man of the Year 2021 Award by a delegation led by the Group Managing Director of DAAR Communications Plc (AIT), Mr. Tony Akiotu, at the Government House, Port Harcourt on Tuesday. He noted that things were not easy when his administration took over the leadership of the state and praised the achievement so far.
Governor Wike said, “We are here to make things easier, even though we didn’t find it easy when we came. But that does not mean that we will do the same thing.
“We can challenge anybody with what we have done to the glory of God. It is there for the eyes to see. It is not for us to tell you.

He also noted that the administration will commence another round of commissioning and flagging off of projects. “We believe from the first week of December, we will start another round of commissioning and flagging off of projects. You can be assured that no project will be left abandoned. We are not here to create problems for our successor.
He thanked management for recognizing the work done by his administration in the state and in Nigeria as a whole. He, however, pleaded with the media not to politicise award conferments on political officeholders. He observed that sometimes when awards are conferred on people, even the givers of such awards find it difficult to justify.
In his remarks, the Group Managing Director of DAAR Communications Plc (AIT), Mr. Akiotu, praised Governor Wike’s courage to lead and noted that he has demonstrated tons of courage in striving to build a Nigeria where there is justice and equity for everyone. He also said the editorial board and DAAR Communications panel of assessors for the 4th DAAR award unanimously voted to confer the award on Governor Wike for his giant strides in infrastructural development of Rivers state and deepening of Nigeria’s democracy.
“It is on record that Your Excellency has initiated, concluded and commissioned as many, if not more projects in your second tenure as if it is the first. Furthermore, Your Excellency has demonstrated enough faith in the Nigerian federation by putting our constitutional democracy to test,” he said
