South Yorkshire-based drummer and cultural arts facilitator Adeniyi Adekoya, known professionally as Adeniyi Drumz, has rescheduled his youth-focused workshop “Unshaken: The Power of Faith & Drums” to Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Springwell Community Centre in Rotherham.
The Nigerian-born artist, who progressed from drumming on makeshift cans in Ibadan to performing at Aso Villa before establishing a cultural platform in the UK, focuses on creating spaces where young people from migrant and underrepresented communities can heal, connect and express themselves through rhythm.
“Unshaken” goes beyond a typical music workshop by combining drumming, faith, storytelling and cultural identity in a creative and emotionally safe environment. The initiative aims to build confidence in teenagers and children, with special attention to asylum seekers and young people navigating identity challenges.
Participants will engage in hands-on drumming sessions, rhythm exchange activities, inspirational talks, and community-building exercises designed to release energy, build trust, and foster personal growth.
This marks Adeniyi’s third project in three months, following his “Drums, Dialogue & Rhythm Exchange” workshop and a collaboration with Adedoyin Oseni Sax. Adeniyi Drumz is also developing a new partnership with Sheffield-based charity FURD (Football Unites, Racism Divides) as he continues using music to uplift, educate, and unify communities.
