The All Progressives Congress (APC) has welcomed the Cross River Governor, Ben Ayade as its newest member after he officially defected from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP)

A ceremony was held on Thursday at the Executive Chambers of the Governor’s Office in Calabar to celebrate his defection from PDP.  Ben Ayade said, “As a team, we want to work with Mr President towards building a prosperous country that his succession process in 2023 will come without fear and hitches.” He noted that Buhari’s commitment to the development of the country is commendable. “It is obvious at this point that we need to join hands with him to build a nation that we all can be proud of,” he added.

The governor recognized the issue of youths and unemployment and emphasized that it is his responsibility to assist the President in the building process. He emphasized that if Governors join hands with President Muhammadu Buhari and agree on a way to govern this country, we will make progress. ”We need to position Cross River at the centre of activities and on that note, I declare Cross River as an APC state,” He said.

The ceremony had in attendance the Caretaker Chairman of APC, and Governor of Yobe State, Gov. Mai Bala-Buni who was there to welcome Ayade into the APC. Declaring him a member of the party, Bala-Buni said, “As from today, Ayade is the leader of APC in Cross River”. Other members present at the event were APC governors including, Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti State), Mohammed Badaru (Jigawa), Mai Bala-Buni (Yobe), Abubakar Bagudu (Kebbi State), Hope Uzodinma (Imo), and Simon Lalong (Plateau).
