The Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka has received a major uplift in terms of equipment, following the acquisition and installation of Sixty four Computed tomographic scan diagnosis Machine, by Governor Willie Obiano.

This was revealed by Dr. Basil Nwankwo, the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, when the Auxiliary Bishop of Awka Catholic Diocese, Most Reverend Jonas Benson Okoye and others paid him a courtesy call in his office.

Dr. Nwankwo who took Bishop Okoye and his entourage which includes, the Catholic Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese, Bishop Peter Okpaleke among others round the hospital, explained that the machine which is the most sophisticated in diagnosing all health problems, is the only one in the entire South East region of Nigeria, and number six in entire federation courtesy of the Anambra state government.

According to him, the machine had already done thirty two exposures already, and since his assumption of office, the hospital has also received tremendous support from the state government. As a matter of fact, the teaching hospital has attracted a world class Mother and Child Medical Centre which was built by a multinational company with two theatres, intensive care unit among others, which will be commissioned by Governor Willie Obiano in due course.

On his part, Most Reverend Okoye, the Auxiliary Bishop of Awka noted that the hospital has been transformed a lot in both infrastructure and service to the people. According to him, what he witnessed in the hospital is highly laudable; hence, he urged both the staff and management of the hospital not to relent.

On the other hand, the Catholic Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese, Most Reverend Okpaleke, said that the visit has changed his perception about government hospitals, as a result of the huge sacrifices both the Anambra state government and the staff and management of the hospital have put in place. He also prayed for Godā€™s blessings upon them.
