Buhari Congratulates Adeleke And Reassures Nigerians Of A Hitch Free 2023 Election

President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday congratulated the governor- elect of Osun state, Senator Adeleke Ademola of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), following his win in the election.


Adeleke wins the incumbent governor, Gboyega Oyetola. He was able to secure 403,371 votes, 28,344 more than Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who polled 375,027 votes, to emerge victory.


Adeleke had also competed with Oyetola in 2018 which he lost.


Shortly after the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the outcome of the polls, the President made a statement through the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Femi Adesina on Sunday noted that with the election the expressed conviction that;

ā€œThe people of Osun have expressed their will through the ballot, and the will of the people must always matter and be respected in a democracy.ā€


President Buhari notes that the successful conduct of the election is further testimony to the maturity and commitment of all stakeholders ā€“ the electoral body, security agencies, political parties, the media, civil society, and the electorate ā€“ to further strengthen the integrity of the electoral process in the country.


ā€œThe President reassures the nation that the commitment of this administration towards having credible elections remains unshaken.ā€


According to Arise news there was a large turnout of voters recorded in parts of Osun state.


The vote garnered between Oyetola and Adeleke in 2018 was a tough contest as the APC flagbearer had to win a supplementary election before he was returned elected.


However, this time victory visits Adeleke.
