I totally understand that Nigerians are accustomed to trend, what if our cry for good governance will have to accommodate more salient roles played by key figures to stir the nation into more productivity and representation. I’m totally keeping my fingers crossed on the pool of possibilities in the current twist of fate , but one topic that is worth some more questions and answers is the issue , that revolves around the spike in killings in our society.
We need to be aware that the life of every human is very important, not connecting it to age, ethnic affiliations and political associations. For our nation to achieve its full potentials of greatness , then every one has to be part of that change. How we handle societal issues resonates from our general perspectives and values , and we need to discuss every issue that is alien to the progress and development of our country.
The case of Bamise, the 22 year old fashion designer who lost her life after boarding the BRT bus driven by Andrew Nice Omininikron , has not been swept under the carpet as he was in court on March 22, 2022. While being arraigned before the State High Court sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square on a four count charge which involves rape, conspiracy and murder of Ayanwola Oluwabamise , Andrew Nice, pleaded not guilty . Dr Jide Martins , who is the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution , told the court that Andrew Nice in collaboration with others who are at large , raped Bamise without her consent before she was murdered. According to the prosecutor , the offenses were contrary to and here by punishable under sections 411, 223,260 and 165 according to the criminal laws of Lagos State (2015).
Justice Sherifat Sonaike , subsequently adjourned the case to May 9th, 10th and 11th 2022, in order to commence the Trial of Andrew Nice Omininikron.
