While there is an intentional step taken to curb the rising ills of having Okada riders in different parts of Lagos. It has been reported that the Lagos State Taskforce On June 2 , 2022 has announced that they will destroy 2,228 seized Okada, as a step to show that they are serious about enacting the ban in some Local government Areas in Lagos.
CSP Shola Jejeloye who is the Taskforce Chairman claimed that on June 3rd, 2022, there exercise to crush the bikes will take place . In his words;
“Their style of operation is synonymous with gorilla warfare- when we retreat, they advance, and when we advance, they retreat, but enforcement on the ban has come to stay. We will ensure that not a single offender operating his okada on the highways will be spared. We will keep watch and continue patrolling the affected parts of the state to ensure they do not get back on our roads,” he said.
