The military Beachcraft 350 aircraft which crashed at the Kaduna International Airport on Friday, claimed all 11 souls onboard including newly appointed Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru.
This was confirmed from military sources yesterday; the incident occurred on Friday in Kaduna.
A statement by Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information of the Nigerian Army revealed that the immediate cause of the crash is still being ascertained.
In an interview by Channels Tv, Amina Salami the Manager Kaduna Airport said that the aircraft was supposed to land at the military base but due to bad weather the aircraft was diverted to the civil airport.
“But unfortunately, it crash landed probably due to bad weather, we do not have the reports yet, at this moment and I think the AIP would be coming for the investigation” she said.
According to Punch, corpses of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, and others who died in a Beachcraft 350 aircraft that crashed at the Kaduna International Airport on Friday have arrived in Abuja.
They were received at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja about 11am.
They were being moved to the National Mosque and the Nigerian Air Force Protestant Church venues of funeral prayers amidst tight security.
