The Anambra state House of Assembly has passed a bill for the establishment of the State House of Assembly Service Commission, Functions of the Commission and for connected purposes in readiness for the legislative autonomy.

The Majority Leader, Dr. Nnamdi Okafor leading a debate on the bill during a special plenary of the House,Ā  explained that the bill would facilitate the smooth running of the state legislature.

He noted that the House took out time even in the event of the ongoing strike action by the Legislative Staff Association of Nigeria to consider the bill, which he said, would help in strengthening the legislature.

The Speaker, Right Honourable Uche Okafor commended the lawmakers for painstakingly going through the bill and for subsequent passage, assuring that the state legislature will continue to enact laws aimed at improving the living standard of the citizenry and the peace and progress of the state.
