In less than four days, Africa’s biggest reality TV show, Big Brother Naija (BBNaija), will kick off its ninth season.
This season centers around pairing and dynamic duos, promising unparalleled twists and turns. For 71 days, housemates will entertain Africa. Here are some exciting details revealed at the BBNaija media briefing:
Contestant selection this season was based on the mindset ‘better as pairs.’ Dr. Busola Tejumola, Executive Head, Content & Channels, West Africa, MultiChoice, shared, “This year, Biggie asked for pairs to audition. We invited friends, besties, family members, spouses, and partners to enter the show together.” The prize for this season is valued at N100 million, including a cash prize and an SUV.
While there are several sponsors on board, it’s unclear if additional sponsored prizes will be included due to recent controversies. Unlike previous seasons, the Head of House challenge will have new activities during primetime.
Dr. Tejumola added, “Right after the launch show on Sunday, a new activity will start. This season has high stakes. It’s going to move fast, and it will unravel right from Sunday night when we launch the show.”
After meeting the housemates, the Custodian Challenge begins at 9 pm on Sunday. The HoH Ballot to select the first Head of House will be at 10 am on Monday, July 29, 2024, followed by the Custodian Lock-In, the Immunity Challenge, and nominations.
This season’s twists and turns aim to enhance the show’s innovative format, promising fresh dynamics and unforgettable entertainment. Fans can also participate with the Fave Lock-In, predicting winning pairs in the Immunity Challenge and winning N1 million weekly.
Guinness returns as a gold sponsor, along with Smirnoff, Pepsi, Supakomando, Aquafina, Mirinda, Indomie Noodles, Power Oil, Lush Hair, Munch IT, Colgate, Airtel Smart Cash, Tecno Mobile, Golden Penny Semovita & Garri, Dano Milk, Amatem Softgel, Rexona, Innoson Motors, Bang Bet, and more.
The season premiere is set for Sunday, July 28, 2024, on all Africa Magic channels. Viewers can follow the drama and excitement on DStv Channel 198 and GOtv Channel 49, and join the conversation using the hashtag #BBNaijaS9 on social media.
