AUDITIONS: Big Brother Naija Season 7

The biggest reality TV show in Nigeria, Big Brother Naija, has opened applications for the next set of contestants for the 7th edition and auditions are already ongoing.

The show, which has produced winners such as Miracle Igbokwe (season 3), Mercy Eke (season 4), Laycon (season 5), and White money (season 6) has officially begun its audition for season 7.

This was announced on the Big Brother Naija official Instagram page on Sunday. The announcement read thus, ā€œBiggie is calling you back home. #BBNaija Season 7 auditions are officially open”. Are you the next Efe, Miracle, Mercy, Laycon or Whitemoney? This is your time to show Biggie what youā€™re all about. Contestants are to visit the official Big Brother Naija website to apply as contestants”.

The first season aired in 2006 and was won byĀ  production assistant cum scriptwriter, Katung Aduwak, who walked away with the grand prize ofĀ  a Hundred thousand dollars ($100,000).Ā  A gap of 11 years ensued before the “See Gobe” season which commenced in January, 2017. The season was won by Warri, Delta State-born lyricist, Efe Ejeba, who got the grand prize of 25 million naira.Ā

In the third season which aired in 2018 (Double Wahala), Miracle Igbokwe who’s a pilot won himselfĀ  25 million naira, a brand new Hyundai Tuscon SUV, home appliances worth 3 million naira and a trip for two to an exotic location, as well as a yearā€™s supply of Pepsi and Aquafina water.

The ā€˜Pepper Demā€™ season which followed a year after was won by an entrepreneur, Mercy Eke, who took home 30 million naira, an Innoson SUV said to be worth 25 million naira, a trip to Dubai amongst other prizes from fans.

The fifth season of the show which held amidst the COVID-19 pandemic was aptly tagged the ā€˜Lockdown Editionā€™. It was won by an upcoming (at the time) Rap artiste, Olamilekan Agbeleshe, also known as Laycon, who bagged a trip to Dublin and Ireland, 30 million naira, an Innoson SUV worth 30 million, a two-bedroom apartment, and other prizes.

Whitemoney who’s the recent star of the 2021 edition, got a whoopingĀ  90milion naira worth of prizes.

When asked the reasons for staging a seventh edition, Chief Executive Officer of MultiChoice Nigeria John Ugbe had this to say: ā€œThe BBNaija reality show remains one of our core investments in bringing quality TV entertainment to millions of our subscribers across the continent on our DStv and GOTv platforms and beyond, through our online streaming service, ShowMax. We are ramping up efforts to deliver another BBNaija experience to our customers, partner brands, and fans of the showā€.
