Nigerian international superstar Asake has firmly established himself as one of Afrobeats’ most consistent hitmakers, earning numerous accolades for his music. In anticipation of his third album, “Lungu Boy,” Asake has dropped a new track titled “Active,” featuring American rapper and producer Travis Scott.
Released on August 7, “Active” blends era-defining Amapiano log drums with dance elements, creating an upbeat, party-starting hit. Asake has also unveiled the tracklist for “Lungu Boy,” which boasts guest performances from Wizkid, Central Cee, Stormzy, and Ludmilla. Notably, he collaborated with Central Cee on the tracks “Only Me” and “Wave” in 2024, both of which are featured on the album.
The release of “Lungu Boy” comes ahead of Asake’s upcoming tour, which includes dates at the iconic O2 Arena, where he previously headlined in 2023, and Madison Square Garden, making him only the fourth Nigerian artist to headline the famous venue.
Asake’s third album in as many years marks a continuation of his impressive streak of hits. Since breaking into the mainstream, he has been on a steady rise. At the 2023 Headies Awards, his debut album “Mr. Money With The Vibes” won Album of the Year. His second album, “Work of Art,” featured the hit single “Lonely At The Top,” which holds the record for the longest-charting song on the TurnTable Top 100.
