Anambra Traditional rulers participate in COVID-19 tests. Call for increased testing in villages.

Anambra State Traditional Rulers have taken part in the COVID 19 pandemic test.

The test was carried out by medical personnel from the state Ministry of Health at the Traditional Rulers Council Chambers, Government House, Awka.

The test became mandatory to ensure that none of the royal father’s is infected by the virus

The chairman Anambra state Traditional Rulers Council Obi Alfred Achebe, in his brief remark, reminded the royal father’s that COVID 19 test is not a death sentence but rather a key to early detection which he said increases survival rate.

Obi Achebe who spoke through his deputy, Igwe Sunday Okafor of Okpuno expressed his displeasure that some Nigerians still do not believe that COVID 19 is real. He then urged them to resist fear and avail themselves of the free COVID 19 test noting that health is wealth.

In their separate speeches, some of the traditional rulers, including Igwe Kenneth Orizu of Nnewi, Igwe Pius Omachonu of Olumbanasaa in Anambra West and Igwe Felix Onyimadu of Ukpor, among others who have gone through the test thanked Governor Willie Obiano for his efforts and the state Commissioner for Health Dr Vincent Okpala for taken proactive measures aimed at curbing the spread of the virus in Anambra.

 

The royal fathers admonished the government to extend the COVID 19 test to all the villages in the state to enable all indigenes to benefit from it.

They promised to join to ensure full enforcement of COVID 19 protection guidelines to their subjects.

Mrs Nelly Dike, the state Diseases Surveillance and Notification Officer in an interview explained that the second wave of COVID 19 is more serious and expressed satisfaction with the steps taken by the traditional rulers and noted that collection of the sample will enable them to identify those that have it for them to be treated as according to her knowing their status will help curb the spread in their various communities.
