Anambra Trade Commissioner encourages market leaders to be more security conscious

Mr Uchenna Okafor, the Anambra State Commissioner for Trade and Commerce has  admonished all market leaders in the State to be more security conscious  and always provide necessary information to security agencies.

Mr Okafor who spoke with stakeholders and market leaders during a meeting with in Awka, urged all  market executive committees to encourage all traders in their markets to be security conscious, monitor movements on and around their markets and report any questionable behaviour to the police.

With regards to the fire incidents in markets, the Commissioner said that Anambra State government would sustain interventions to prevent further fire outbreaks.

Mr Okafor advised that markets without water boreholes, fire hydrants and good access roads to forward their requests to the State government for safety reasons.

He further explained that measures have been put in place by the government to look into the fire outbreak at the Nnewi Timber Market.
