Anambra State Welcomes Army Chief (Pictures)

The Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Tukur Buratai on 17th March in Onitsha told officers and men of the 302 Artillary Regiment (General Support) to remain professional and responsive in the discharge of their duties, saying that if they observe the rules of their engagement, there will not be any issue of human rights violation in the discharge of their jobs.
Gen Burutai who was flanked by the General Officer Commanding, GOC, 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Attahiru, Commander of 302 Artillery Regiment, Col. Isah Abdullahi, and Commanding Officer 14 Field Engineer Regiment, Lt. Col. Sheriff Aremu told the officers and men that their colleagues in the North East are doing them proud and they should live up to their job in the state.
He acknowledged that the soldiers have a lot of problems militating against their jobs, but assured them that these problems are being addressed especially accommodation and other issues, saying that in no distant time, those problems will be a thing of the past. “I am here for the first time as the Chief of Army Staff to familiarize with you and know some of the problems you face, and the Federal Government under President Muhammadu Buhari is sincere in addressing your welfare issues and the only way to pay back for his genuine commitment is to work hard and according to the rules of your engagement. “The barracks will be put in proper shape for you and I will like to urge you to be loyal and patriotic in the course of your duties, you have your rules of engagement and you must abide by it, as long as you work according to it, the issue of human rights violation will not be an issue, you must also be your brothers keeper, by helping each other” he said.
Gen. Burutai also paid a courtesy call on Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State at Governor’s Lodge Amawabia Awka where he also commended him for the cooperation he is giving the military in the state and urged him to continue as his men will help to ensure security like they have always done in the state. Governor Obiano thanked Gen Burutai for the visit and assured him of more cooperation with the military, just as he expressed satisfaction with their performance in the state, and their collaboration and support to his administration.
