Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, has commenced the process of weeding out ghost and fraudulent workers in the state.

Part of the process is theĀ commencement of the verification of all civil servants in the state.

The exercise, which is in its first phase for all state government workers, would also involve teachers and local government staff inĀ  the subsequent phases.

Inspecting the exercise on Monday in Awka, the capital of Anambra State, Governor Obiano, appealed to workers to be patient.

He stressedĀ that the life changing sacrifice would also expose undeserving staff for the present month, as they would continue to collect their salaries through the usual bank system.

The verification availed every worker, the opportunity to register his or her bio-metrics, tender appointment documents for confirmation and physical collection of cheque for February salary.

The Governor expressed satisfaction with the pace of the machines and also commended the workers for their patience and sacrifice.

He, however, urgedĀ the workers to show dedication and commitment to their jobs for the growth and development of Anambra State.

Anambra State Head of Service said that the workers were excited about the development and outlined the documents for presentation during verification.

Mr Harry Udu said that the overall target was to plug leakages if there were any in the civil service of Anambra State.

The Head of Service maintained that prosecution would apply on any fraudulent staff found.
