The Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Chioma Ezenyimulu has reiterated that the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine currently being administered in the state is safe and has no side effects.

Dr. Ezenyimulu made the statement while addressing the press immediately after speaking to a cross section of priests and the religious of the Diocese of Awka at an ongoing seminar at Archbishop Obiefuna Retreat Centre Okpuno.

Correspondent David Okpokwasili reports that Dr. Ezenyimulu, who described the vaccination as a “stage of hope”, said five thousand doses of the vaccine have been administered so far in the state.

While stating that there is no need to fear, she explained that the vaccine is manufactured to meet the African climate and can be stored in the normal fridge temperature that is between two to eight degrees centigrade and considering the fact that all the cold chain equipment used in the state is solar powered, the challenge of power outage has been taken care of.

She further explained that her visit to the seminar was to increase the advocacy with religious leaders and provide them with firsthand information about the vaccine so they could help to properly educate their parishioners about the vaccines.
